According to the recent released nomination list, the Xinzhuang - Jiming Temple section tunnel of Nanjing Metro Line 3, which is designed by SIYUAN is nominated as the Annual Outstanding Engineering Project Award.
Nanjing Metro Line 3 was open to operation in April 2015. As the longest section tunnel of line 3, the length of Xinzhuang – Jiming Temple section tunnel reached to approximately 2700 meters. The tunnel extends beneath the Xuanwu Lake for about 1km, and the distance between the lake edge and middle ventilation shaft is only 30 meters. The foundation pit is 42 meters in depth, and the deepest foundation pit in Nanjing. The shield acceptor adopts the reinforced vertical frozen terminal and steel socket entering method that reduces the soil erosion and water loss at entrance when accepting the shield, and has in turn greatly decreased risk involved in the process of construction.
As the “Oscar” in the field of international tunnel engineering, ITA (International Tunnel Association) Award is not only an important annual reward for outstanding tunnel projects, but is also the promoter of the innovation and development for the construction of tunnel and underground spaces. The Futian Station of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway was also nominated for this ITA Award in 2015.
